Irma Gutierez has been with the group since the beginning and is a 37 year old mother of an 8 year old boy. Her husband lives out of the country and works to send money home to support his family when he can.
Crocheting is a skill that she learned from Sister Lucia during her lunch breaks. Selling her crocheted items allows her to buy food and pay for the household bills and school expenses. Her son will join the crochet group and read aloud to everyone to study for school. Her commitment to her son’s education is evident and Santa Rosa Stitches allows her to provide that opportunity for him.
